Wes Mussio is among only a few lawyers licensed to practice law in both British Columbia and Washington State, thus being able to provide cross-border legal services principally in the area of personal injury claims and estate matters. Wes has been practicing since 1991, first as an insurance defense lawyer before moving on to represent those who were injured in car accidents and other injury matters. During this time, Wes also developed one of the largest estate practices in British Columbia.
In 2012, Wes and Eric Goodman joined forces to form the law firms Mussio Goodman in Canada and Mussio Law in Washington State. Wes has been the managing partner since the firms’ inception, while acting as lead counsel in thousands of personal injury and estate cases over his 35 years as a working lawyer.
Wes has written several legal books including What ICBC Does Not Want You to Know, and the Basics of Estate Litigation. He has also written dozens of Canadian bestsellers under the title Backroad Mapbooks, a company he owns with his brother.
When he’s not writing books or practicing law across international borders, Wes is spends his time in the world of ice hockey; he has owned six different Junior A ice hockey franchises, and took on the roles of Vice-President then President of the Burnaby Winter Club, considered one of the top minor hockey programs in North America.
In addition, as a registered Professional Forester, Wes has been an acting board member for several years with the Registered Professional Foresters, having graduated with a degree with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry in 1986.
Wes is a strong advocate of the mediation process and always works to achieve a settlement out of court for his clients. However, having acted as lead counsel in hundreds of trials, Wes is always prepared to take a claim to court in the event the opposing party is unreasonable.
